What if our reality were an invisible prison? A perfect structure designed to trap souls in a endless loop?
The Matrix is based on two fundamental shapes: the cube and the sphere.
The 6-faced cube is the structure of incarnation in a carbon body (referred to as the infamous 666, which actually stands for the 6 electrons, 6 neutrons and 6 protons of the carbon atom). It entraps the soul into an immutable programme with its own physical laws, biology and psyche. A digital prison where everything is coded.
The sphere represents the global astral, the vibratory programming of every incarnation. The influence of the stars, predetermined destiny... A predefined cycle in which individuals play their role over and over again.
Everything runs into a continuous loop. Hours, seasons, years, civilisations, human lives.. Birth, growth, decline, death... and back to square one.
But what happens at the angles of the cube?
These breakpoints, where the energy flow is disrupted, are prone to programme failures. Defects, bugs, experiences defying all logic within the matrix. A potential escape route, maybe?
When we leave our body and die, another illusion lies ahead. A holographic airlock at the junction of the two worlds, controlled by the Archons. A deceptive light set up to lure the soul into returning.
The escape route is not to be found within the Cube or the Sphere... but within the hidden loopholes of the system.
No sooner had I completed my first task than it was already time for me to say goodbye to my fairground booth in Paris and head off to Candyland, swapping my gulliball for (elephant pink) gumballs. The card for February is the 2 of Hearts, naturally related to (astral) love, but also to deception.
Sugar Pink
Inevitably, whenever we think of the colour pink, we associate it with the rosy romance of sentimental fiction and the watered-down views of inflated positivism (polarisation) that would rather look at the world through rose-coloured glasses than see it as it really is.
Incidentally, the colour pink in English does not take its name from the rose flower, as it does in French, but from the flowers called pinks of the genus Dianthus, a garden plant of various colours with ‘perforated' (scalloped) petals, sometimes featuring small dots resembling 'small eyes' (from Dutch pinck oogen) or half-closed eyes, blinking (pinken).
Unfortunately, this matrix is no bed of roses. Sometimes (oftentimes), it stinks so bad you can't even smell the roses. And when they wither and dry, only the thorns remain and the rosy cloud may quickly take on a darker shade of bleak or even go full black.
That's when things ‘turn sour’ and we grow ‘bitter’. We need to mellow out. With sugar. Revert to a hypnotic state (sugar is highly addictive) on a candy pink cloud (for shrinks, the colour of dreams) with all the unicorns, angels, fairies and pink elephants.
At least in Western cultures, for in India, Hindu mythology associates the colour pink with Ganesha, the elephant-headed god, a symbol of wisdom and unification of the divine and the human.
Succubus Pink
In this matrix, it is important to understand that over-optimism and romanticising are used to manipulate and control human perception, so as to disconnect the soul from the harsh reality of its true condition.
Life is a rose, each petal an illusion and each thorn a reality.
Alfred de Musset
'Looking through rose-coloured glasses' is therefore an emotional trap encouraging people to remain in their illusory comfort bubble, which prevents them from seeing the true nature of their matrix prison. This is how pink Care Bears refuse to see the corruption, manipulation and dysfunctions of the world so as to ‘enjoy life’. And in so doing, they find themselves in a state of emotional dependency and subservience, which fuels the archontic forces behind the matrix.
For contrary to popular misconception, loosh, a term popularised by Robert Monroe, who pioneered research in out-of-body experiences — which is the subtle energy produced by human emotions and reactions to life situations — is not limited to negative emotions. Any polarised emotion (whether positive or negative) may be exploited, as long as it is intense and generates strong reactions. Although Archons are often associated with negative emotions, they are essentially opportunistic energy parasites. They want to keep humans trapped in the emotional matrix where they constantly produce polarised emotions, whether intense joy or deep pain.
So romantic rapture, naive bliss, artificially induced elation, and blind worship are also exploitable energy sources. Actually, this type of loosh is especially valued, for humans are more productive when they are stimulated by positive emotions as they can fuel the matrix without questioning their conditioning.
The trap lies in polarisation. Archons feed on any polarised emotion, whether positive or negative. The real antidote is to achieve conscious emotional neutrality.
Archons cannot feed on sovereign love nor on the quietness that inner joy provides, for balanced energy does not produce any exploitable loosh.
Rather than looking through candy pink-coloured lenses, it's therefore best to take a clear-headed look from a neutral, balanced perspective, without falling for the illusions of the matrix. Lucid vs Cupid.
The Rose Within
However, the colour pink is also charged with special symbolism which has been widely misused to limit its scope and reduce it to a symbol of triviality and meek delicacy. Hence, in some esoteric traditions, the soul is surrounded by a pink energy field, acting as a vibratory shield against archontic intrusions.
Everybody knows That what my lover sows Kills the roses…
Also, alchemically-speaking, the rose flower, the pink colour takes its name from in most Latin languages, does not reflect a naive view of reality, but rather the process of unveiling hidden truths.
Actually, the rose is a central, universal symbol that can be found in many cultures and spiritual trends (alchemy, Christian mysticism, Gnosticism, etc.). It is tied to complex symbolism and a number of fundamental concepts, as it is supposed to represent the soul; sovereignty (where the soul needs to outwit the illusions imposed by both Adonai, the artificial intelligence of the matrix, and the archons, in order to regain its original freedom); and stands as the guardian of the secret of the soul's pure and unaltered core of information, where the archontic matrix pushes humans to seek answers outside rather than within.
In other words, the rose could represent the access to the neutral data of the soul, which is located outside the matrix and beyond the reach of archontic forces. The legendary bag we let the kitty out of, that contains the hidden master key to open all doors including the most tamper-proof locks.
So when do we stop kidding ourselves, send the whole gang of blind psychos packing, and finally escape from this gaol?
Today we're leaving the challenging energies of the Wood Dragon behind to embrace the more soothing energies of the Wood Snake — which happens to be my Chinese zodiac sign!
While the snake may symbolise evil and treachery in some traditions (the serpent represents the devil and temptation in the Christian Bible), in Chinese culture it symbolises wisdom, deep intuition, insight, adaptability and agility.
The Year of the Snake is often a year when relative calm and collective wisdom are observed. People begin to vaguely realise the pointlessness of the tumult of humanity, and feel more inclined towards philosophy and meditation.
Since snakes are closely in tune with the earth, and usually make their home there, the Chinese believe them to be particularly sensitive to the onset of earthquakes. A a consequence, the Snake year is said to be one in which earthquakes are more than usually severe - witness the disastrous events in China and Armenia which preceded the San Francisco earthquake in the Snake year of 1989.
Such catastrophes are likely to be matched by political upheavals. Coups, conspiracies and the ballot box are the means by which governments are overthrown, for it is a time of itnernal revolution rather than war. Similarly, in business, the dangers are not from takeover bids by outside companies, but through intrigue and insider dealing.
Yet the Snake year is also a period when the needs of the environment are highlighted. There is greater awareness of the value of the earth's resources, and 'green' issues come to the fore.
Generally speaking, it is not such a favourable time to embark on any new venture or risky projects. The year is best taken up with initial planning, research and feasibility studies; caution is the key to survival.
In keeping with taking stock of last year's achievements, I'm sharing my top reads of 2024.
Since most items in my original list are only available in French (some 40 books), you'll get a Top 5 instead. Not included either are comics and non-fiction books (I Think Too Much by Christel Petitcollin and The Reveal by David Icke, a hefty tome I haven't finished reading yet).
1. The Running Grave
To me, this latest instalment in the Cormoran Strike series is the best yet. And despite being over 900 pages long, I spent days and nights reading it, unable to put it down! An extremely well-crafted plot, fluid writing, breathless suspense, and a topical subject explored with spine-chilling realism (sensitive souls be warned), supported by engaging protagonists whose relationship captivates the reader, book after book, making this series so addictive. Some great art by J.K. Rowling under the pen name of Robert Galbraith.
Private Detective Cormoran Strike is contacted by a worried father whose son, Will, has gone to join a religious cult in the depths of the Norfolk countryside. The Universal Humanitarian Church is, on the surface, a peaceable organization that campaigns for a better world. Yet Strike discovers that beneath the surface there are deeply sinister undertones, and unexplained deaths. In order to try to rescue Will, Strike's business partner, Robin Ellacott, decides to infiltrate the cult, and she travels to Norfolk to live incognito among its members. But in doing so, she is unprepared for the dangers that await her there or for the toll it will take on her. . .

2. The Ink Black Heart
Another captivating page-turner and the second best in the series, in my opinion. A recipient of online harassment herself, Rowling addresses this rampant issue with intelligence, lucidity and panache. As usual, her plot is extremely well-conceived with many unexpected twists and turns. And the central relationship between Strike and Robin always so compelling.
When frantic, disheveled Edie Ledwell appears in the office begging to speak to her, private detective Robin Ellacott doesn’t know quite what to make of the situation. The co-creator of a popular cartoon, The Ink Black Heart, Edie is being persecuted by a mysterious online figure who goes by the pseudonym of Anomie. Edie is desperate to uncover Anomie’s true identity. Robin decides that the agency can’t help with this—and thinks nothing more of it until a few days later, when she reads the shocking news that Edie has been tasered and then murdered in Highgate Cemetery, the location of The Ink Black Heart. Robin and her business partner, Cormoran Strike, become drawn into the quest to uncover Anomie’s true identity. But with a complex web of online aliases, business interests and family conflicts to navigate, Strike and Robin find themselves embroiled in a case that stretches their powers of deduction to the limits – and which threatens them in new and horrifying ways . . .

3. WE
The long-awaited novel Christelle mentioned she was inspired to write while still working on the Mirror Visitor, acting as a bridge with Here and Only Here. Not yet available in English as it was released in France only a couple of months ago, but it definitely will be. US is all about the hive mind, an exacerbated collective consciousness denying any individual right — and about the archontic saviour implant rebranded Instinct. It is also a harsh criticism of self-righteousness and abusive religion in all its hypocrisy — a recurring theme also found in the Mirror Visitor with the character of God (can't say any more without spoiling) standing in as the main antagonist and source of chaos.
WE is a vintage dystopian fantasy. A return to my first love, drawing you into a world with its own set of rules, its own possibilities, its own restrictions, and good old-fashioned battery-operated walkmans. The humans in WE are not very far apart from us with one considerable difference: everyone has an Instinct serving the community. WE is also, and above all, the story of Claire, an over-secretive confidante and Goliath, a reckless daredevil protector, including many other destinies interlacing with theirs. And in WE, everything's perfect. Is everything perfect?

4. Midnight Sun
Stephenie Meyer appears to have a problem: she can't seem to bounce back from the phenomenal success of her Twilight saga and keeps coming back to it. First with Life and Death on the 10th anniversary of Twilight, in 2015, where Bella becomes Beau and Edward becomes Edith. Then in 2020, with Midnight Sun, where the story is told from the point of view of Edward, the vampire. For the record, she began writing this version in 2008 and stopped after the first twelve chapters were leaked on the Internet. It took a petition signed by hundreds of thousands of people for her to finally decide, a decade later, to resume her work on the manuscript. I have to admit that I was particularly curious about the exercise in style. Although similar in all points, the story is much longer since Edward analyses everything. Having chosen the audio version to test my new e-reader, it was a quite different experience for me anyway.
This unforgettable tale as told through Edward’s eyes takes on a new and decidedly dark twist. Meeting beautiful, mysterious Bella is both the most intriguing and unnerving event he has experienced in his long life as a vampire. As we learn more fascinating details about Edward’s past and the complexity of his inner thoughts, we understand why this is the defining struggle of his life. How can he let himself fall in love with Bella when he knows that he is endangering her life?

5. Sputnik Sweetheart
A rather strange and disconcerting novel, chosen at random on Rudy's recommendation of this author. Murakami likes to draw his readers into a world where the boundary between what's real and what's supernatural is so tenuous they lose all their bearings. The title, that largely influenced my choice, refers to the first artificial satellite launched by the USSR in 1957, meaning ‘fellow traveller’ in Russian. For the characters in this impossible love triangle are like satellites gravitating around the object of their desire, moving towards then away but never actually making the connection.
Sumire is in love with a woman seventeen years her senior. But whereas Miu is glamorous and successful, Sumire is an aspiring writer who dresses in an oversized second-hand coat and heavy boots like a character in a Kerouac novel. Sumire spends hours on the phone talking to her best friend K about the big questions in life: what is sexual desire, and should she ever tell Miu how she feels for her? Meanwhile K wonders whether he should confess his own unrequited love for Sumire. Then, a desperate Miu calls from a small Greek island: Sumire has mysteriously vanished...
Imagine our reality is a matrix. An enormous machine powered by the principle of polarities...
Good and evil. Peace and war. Truth and lies. Each concept has an opposite. Like the two sides of a same coin.
In this matrix, it is impossible to separate polarities. All accumulated peace brings its share of conflict. All intensified love generates its share of hatred. Any truth gives rise to lies.
It is a law of balance. A demiurgic game of which no one knows the rules (the famous mysterious ways God works in), where we are... the game pieces... the coins.
The matrix urges us to take sides. Heads or tails. It doesn't matter which. But this choice entraps us. For polarised coins get stuck in the matrix's piggy bank.
So what solution can there be?
Rolling on the edge. Moving forward with balance. Rejecting extremes. And when the time is right, finding the exit through the slim slot, without falling off to one side or the other.
It is a narrow path, but the only way out of this soul trap.
