The Year of the Sheep

The Chinese Year of The Sheep is now official. For us, it started right after the Feast of Epiphany with a visit of the Karmage Kings bringing false flags and genuine miracles, shortly followed by the Carnival of Venice way ahead of schedule and overseen by the all-seeing eye of the beasts of hatred. In these days of doom come1, the only thing missing would be the hippos shouting2: “Why isn't there any Year of The Hippopotamus in the Chinese Calendar?” And thence appealing the international community to take action because “China is discriminating against us.” Anyway, this is the Year of The Sheep, fullstop!3 Some pain in the ass might still argue that it isn't — that it's actually the Year of The Goat. To which I would reply that for the Chinese, goats and sheep are all the same, that it's still cattle, and that you can translate as you like! Some people even say that it's the Year of The Ram, hence my featuring the god Pan — who shouldn't be mixed up with Rabelais's Panurge — who's tired of being used as a scapegoat. So will 2015 be the Year of the Panicked or the Unscrewed?4

Endnotes

  1. Untranslatable pun involving “gloom” and “MOSSAD” which both sound the same in French.
  2. The translation here is literal but the pun doesn't work — in French it almost sounds like “hypocrites”.
  3. The pun here was on “spicing”.
  4. Another untranslatable pun: in French both name sound the same.

The Lord of the Crêpes

Gotcha with my pasta, didn't I? Come on, sounds like you'll still get your crêpes for Mardi Gras after all. And who should you thank for that? Jonny Greenwood of course! Full-time creepstar with Radiohead, casual wizard rocker with the Weird Sisters, and classical/movie score composer in his spare time, he really does excel at flipping soft creeps. Sorry about the pink, it's carnival time, therefore a good time to get in a candy mood.

Endnotes

  • Jonny Greenwood (and Philip Selway, drummer with Radiohead) played guitar with the Weird Sisters in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire in 2005. You may view the whole deleted scene here.

The Pan Within

Come with me on a journey beneath the skin
Come with me on a journey beneath the skin
We will look together for the Pan within

Close your eyes, breathe slow and we'll begin
Close your eyes, breathe slow and we will begin
to look together for the Pan within
within...

Swing your hips, loose your head and let it spin
Swing your hips, loose your head and let it spin
and we will look together for the Pan within

Close your eyes, breathe slow, we'll begin
Close your eyes, breathe slow and we will begin
to look together for the Pan within
within...

Put your face to my window,
breathe a night full of treasure
The wind is delicious,
sweet and wild with the promise of pleasure
The stars are alive and nights like these
were born to be sanctified by you and me,
lovers, thieves, fools and pretenders
and all we've got to do
all we've got to do
all we've got to do is surrender

Come with me on a journey beneath the skin
Come with me on a journey beneath the skin
and we will look together for the Pan within

Close your eyes.....
Close your eyes....
Close your eyes, breathe slow, we'll begin, we'll begin,
we'll begin, we'll begin, we'll begin to begin...

The Weaver

I'm the toy in your attic,
Weaving outside your box,
Exploring the depths of your folly
From the thread I'm hanging on.

I'm the only gleam in your gloom,
The imperfect match for your desperation.
To catch a glimpse of me,
You'll need to walk through the looking glass.

I'm the mote in your eye,
The forged memory you're playing with,
The illusion you must let go of
To finally pass the threshold.
